Prepare for the adventure of a lifetime as you climb Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest and most iconic peak. This incredible journey guides you through ever-changing landscapes, from the vibrant greenery of lush rainforests to the stark beauty of alpine deserts, ultimately leading you to a breathtaking summit experience. Every step of your climb Kilimanjaro expedition is thoughtfully planned, ensuring proper acclimatization and the chance to immerse yourself in the diverse beauty of each stage of the ascent.

DAY 1: CLIMBING KILIMANJARO - MOSHI

Arrival at Arusha and transfer to Moshi for acclimatization. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted by our team and transferred to your lodge in Moshi. Today has no planned activities except for a pre-climb briefing with your mountain guide to prepare you for the adventure ahead.

DAYS 2: MOSHI TO LONDROSSI GATE TO BIG TREE (MTI MKUBWA) CAMP

Begin your climb of Kilimanjaro with a drive to the Lemosho Gate, followed by a 4×4 transfer to the trailhead. Trek through the lush rainforest zone, where you may encounter diverse flora and fauna. The trail winds steadily to your first camp, Big Tree (Mti Mkubwa), nestled within the forest.

DAYS 3: BIG TREE (MTI MKUBWA) CAMP TO SHIRA II CAMP

Today’s trek takes you into the Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus on earth. Hike through the heather and moorland zone with stunning views of the Shira Ridge and Kibo Peak. As you approach Shira Two Camp, you can see your ultimate destination towering ahead.

DAY 4: SHIRA TWO CAMP TO LAVA TOWER TO BARRANCO CAMP

Climb towards the Kibo cone, reaching the high altitude of Lava Tower at 4630m for acclimatization. Descend into the Barranco Valley, passing unique mountain cacti and ending the day at Barranco Camp with a magnificent view of the Heim Glacier.

DAYS 5: BARRANCO CAMP TO KARANGA CAMP

Ascend the Barranco Wall, a non-technical scramble that offers exhilarating views. Trek through the alpine desert to Karanga Valley, the last water point on the climb, and then ascend to Karanga Camp for the night.

DAY 6: KARANGA CAMP TO BARAFU CAMP

A relatively short trek through the stark alpine desert brings you to Barafu Camp. Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for your midnight summit attempt. The nearby peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi create a dramatic backdrop.

DAYS 7: BARAFU CAMP TO STELLA POINT TO UHURU PEAK TO MWEKA CAMP

Begin your final ascent of Kilimanjaro around midnight, trekking through loose volcanic scree to Stella Point on the crater rim. From there, continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5895m. After a brief celebration at the summit, descend back to Barafu Camp for a rest, then continue to Mweka Camp for the night.

DAY 8: MWEKA CAMP TO MWEKA GATE TO MOSHI

Descend through the southern rainforest to Mweka Gate. Enjoy the final moments on the mountain before being transferred back to Moshi. This is the perfect time to say goodbye to your dedicated climbing crew.

DAYS 9: TRANSFER ON TO YOUR NEXT WILD ADVENTURE

After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home or onto your next adventure. Whether you’re heading off to a new wild adventure or some fun in the sun, we wish you safe travels. Kwaheri (Swahili ~ Goodbye)!
